Yesterday, Nikolas completed a 5k steeplechase including more than 20 obstacles! So fun! The Hootenanny Hoedown, benefitting The Land Conservancy, started with this 5k. Nikolas had to climb over many obstacles that were meant for horses, and he enjoyed it immensely. Though he does wish that the people in front of him didn't take so long to go over the obstacles… he could hardly stay still long enough to wait!

Nikolas's mom had the pleasure of speaking with Elysa Barron, the founder and race coordinator of Fortitude for First Descents - the race to be Nikolas's first marathon. Elysa is an amazing young woman who last year, completed 51 in 52 - marathons that is, in 52 weeks - one in each state and D.C. and raised money for a worthy non-profit called First Descents. Mom had called Elysa to see if we could possibly work together to promote both of our causes. She wholeheartedly agreed and offered to help in many ways. She is an amazing person who exudes enthusiasm and good will! Nikolas is looking forward to running the "last loop" with you, Elysa! Thank you so much!
Today, Nikolas met Cecily Tynan, Meteorologist for WPVI-TV/6ABC Action News! They both ran the Brandywine Bend Footrace in Chadds Ford, PA. Nikolas began the day with an eight mile ,muddy trail race complete with a maze and river crossing. Later, he completed race #2 of the Healthy Kids Running Series and set a new one-mile PR, cutting nine seconds off his mile time! A crazy eight-mile warm-up sets the path to his new personal mile record! What a fun day! Way to go, Nikolas! Nikolas is so excited- he has two races tomorrow! The one in the morning is eight miles, and in the afternoon he's running another one-miler in the Healthy Kids running series.
When scheduling these races, Mom was concerned. "Are you sure you want to run two races in one day?" she asked. Nikolas replied, "Two races in one day? That's awesome!" Nikolas's FIRST marathon, supporting Fortitude for FIRST Descents, in the FIRST state, on December FIRST!
