Go, Blanca, go! Blanca Ramirez is headed to Antarctica to complete her 7th continent marathon which will give her the title of being the youngest girl to complete this goal! We wish you the very best of luck, Blanca!
Here are Nikolas's Tips for Antarctica: 1. Play with the Penguins 2. Bring chocolate to eat while running 3. Wear shorts for the run in case it is in the 30's 4. Use the tinkle tent, not your water bottle 5. Take lots of photos, you may not get back again 6. Run on the snow when you can 7. Beware of the Skua birds! Check out this article on Blanca. http://www.sgvtribune.com/sports/20150209/la-puente-girl-starts-final-two-marathons-in-her-bid-to-run-on-7-continents Nikolas is so excited and honored to become a Jefferson Awards Foundation GlobeChanger! Nikolas had the honor of starting the kids' race today at the MMM with Trent Platt, a bone marrow recipient at age 1. He is now a healthy 8-year-old! A true miracle! Running the World for Children—Stateside! That’s right, Nikolas has begun his new project running a marathon in each of the 50 states. The next phase of his campaign is still in its developing stages, but he is continuing to run to help kids. On Sunday, he is running in the Miracle Match Marathon in Waco, Texas. It supports a cause that matches bone marrow donors with people who need transplants. Edward Toocheck, Nikolas’s grandfather, suffered from leukemia and was the recipient of a marrow transplant. Unfortunately, he died years before Nikolas ever had the chance to meet him. The race director of the MMM is kindly honoring Edward Toocheck’s memory by naming him as a “Mile Honoree.” The info is below if you would like to donate to the cause. Good luck, Nikolas!http://miraclematchmarathon.net/
Congratulations, Nikolas and the other kids featured in SKI changing the world for good! You're all amazing! Sports Illustrated Kids Magazine, December 2014 issue.
