Tomorrow (10/20), Nikolas will be attending the first ever Runner's World Festival. A festival all about running is like a dream for Nikolas! It is a weekend full of running, of course (Nikolas will be running the 10k), inspiration, and fun. They even have have a seminar about pancakes for runners - complete with tastings - Nikolas loves pancakes! Anyone want to venture a guess as to how many pancakes he will eat? Last night was the final of five races in the Healthy Kids Running Series. Nikolas placed 1st in his age group and received a trophy! He was so proud to achieve this goal because he competed in last year's series, where he received his very first trophy, and he is proud to have this honor two years 'running'! Another fun adventure! "There's no such thing as bad weather...only bad clothing." This is Trail Creek Outfitters' philosophy. And we are so excited to announce that they are Nikolas's first sponsor! They are going to outfit Nikolas with the "right" clothing when The North Face unveils their new youth running line! We are so proud to have the support of such an outstanding local organization. TCO is promoting Nikolas's campaign, "Running the World for Children", on their website. Check it our here: http://trailcreekoutfitters.com/site/?page_id=112 Nine-year-old Nikolas with eigthy-two year-old Don Monagle- the youngest and oldest participants who ran in the Delaware Distance Classic 15k today!
Once again, Nikolas ran two races in one day. This morning, he ran the Delaware Distance Classic, a 15k, where he placed second in twenty and under and received a nice trophy! It was raining hard, and he was very pleased. This evening, he ran the fourth Healthy Kids one mile run. And once again, after another long morning "warm up" run, he achieved a personal record for his mile at night! He's so happy!
On Sunday, Nikolas is running in the Delaware Distance Classic 15k and he couldn't be more thrilled with the weather forecast: cold & rainy.
Last night was the 3rd race of the Healthy Kids Running Series. Each week the kids run a mile course. Nikolas ran the mile, and then decided he wanted to keep running… so he did! The other kids were looking at him, wondering what in the world was he doing, and calling out, "You don't have to run anymore!". They just don't know Nikolas well enough yet. :)
